3rd Public Meeting (Open House)
The study’s third public meeting was held on September 15, 2011. Its purpose was
to update the public on the status of the study and to provide an opportunity for
discussion between the IDOT Study Team, the Community Advisory Group (CAG), and
interested members of the community. The focus of the meeting was the six corridor
locations recommended to be carried forward for further analysis. Also presented
was information about the process used to select those six corridors.
The meeting took place between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and was held using an informal,
open house format. Approximately 600 individuals attended the meeting.
Attendees were invited to view a continually-running audio-visual presentation,
which provided a brief review of the study status, and then to study the various
maps and other graphics that were on display. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions
and discuss the project with the IDOT Study Team and CAG representatives who were
present at the meeting, and to submit, in writing, any comments they might have
about the study findings or process.
On display were: informational graphics about the study process, maps and aerial
photos showing the corridors being considered, and charts showing the screening
data used to help select the corridors recommended for further study.
